Mas Canta Cuques

In a typical Languedoc style house, located in the heart of the village of Florensac, in the south of France, only 9 kilometers from the Mediterranean, surrounded by hills,  valleys,  and wild, rugged " Garrigues", three charming holiday rentals, or     "Gîtes"   await your visit...

The village and its surroundings

Mas Canta Cuques offerts its guests a special atmosphere and hospitality. You can explore the world of wine-making (going back three generations at Mas Canta Cuques) and indulge in wine-tasting, visiting wine-cellars or culinary and cultural events. The village of  Florensac is warm and inviting, harbouring narrow roads with old, weathered stones, a Roman bridge over the river Herault, a small central plaza, and the cooperative wine-cellars. The village's beatiful surroundings offer so much for all ages, you will be surprised. To name just a few: the famous Canal du Midi, vineyards as far as the eyes stretches, the magnificent, varied and odourous "Garrigues", the wild, dry landscape on the ills and valleys around the hot Mediterrean basin. In the Languedoc region you can visit the misterious dolmens, menhirs, and other megaliths, the fairytale castle of Carcassonne, the Roman aqueduct Pont du Gard, France's oldest road the Via Domitia, an  Oppidum, cathedrals, and Sète, the so-called Venice of the Languedoc.

These old Tales talk about our forebears of the Middle ages, an occitan knight family who was established in Pezenas. One generation protected the foremother of two actuel kings, Tiburge d'Omelas, First Princess of Orange. Next generation protected Marie de Montpellier, wife of Pedro II and mother of Jaume I king of Aragon, and  ancester of another actual king. When she died two members of the third generation, Guilhem and Maymo left Occitania to protect her son  libérated by Simon de Monfort by order of Innocent III , came with him to Catalogne and participate to the Reconquest. There they stay, till 1914 when one of their descendants came to France and established near Pezenas, without knowing a word of the origine...
